General information
As of 2019, the University of Physical Education in Wroclaw is among the signatories of the University’s Declaration of Social Responsibility.
The act of joining the signatories was signed on September 17, 2019 in Krakow during a meeting with the Minister of Science and Higher Education.
More universities from across Poland are joining the ranks of signatories to the Declaration of University Social Responsibility and the number of signatories to the SOU Declaration in 2017, 2019 and 2022. is 160 universities.
In accordance with this idea of spreading the concept of SOU/CSR, AWF Wrocław, follows the pattern of modern universities and, within the framework of its teaching, research or commercial activities, undertakes significant activities, responding to the basic needs of society.
The Declaration is a document according to which the universities pledge, among other things. to disseminate academic values, popularize science among and for the public, and implement ethical activities.
The declaration furthermore signifies the university’s voluntary commitment to promoting the concept of sustainable development, social responsibility in its teaching offer, cooperation with business environment institutions as well as business itself, in research, but also in the university’s management and organizational solutions.
The document contains 12 principles relating to various aspects of the university’s operation, teaching and research activities, internal organization or dialogue with stakeholders.
Declaration of Social Responsibility
The special role of universities, as a place for creating and transmitting knowledge about the reality around us, obliges them to take into account and apply the principles of social responsibility in all areas of activity and to disseminate these principles among stakeholders.
Bearing in mind the welfare of higher education in Poland, aware of our role in implementing the principles of sustainable development, ensuring high quality research and education, and caring for the comprehensive development of the academic community, we pledge:

Good practices in accordance with ISO 26,000,
For the cooperation of the University, Business and Sport, AWF Wrocław effectively creates good practices in accordance with ISO 26,000, with a special focus on its 7th area.
According to ISO 26000, an organization’s perception of social responsibility and its actual social responsibility activities can have an impact:
- competitive advantage;
- image of the organization;
- The ability to attract and retain employees, shareholders and customers ;
- employee morale, commitment and productivity;
- feedback from investors, owners, donors, sponsors of the financial community, and
- the organization’s relationships with businesses, government agencies, the media, suppliers, partners, customers and the community within which the organization operates.
ISO 26000, is a set of guidelines for companies and organizations on social responsibility.
The ISO 26000 standard was developed by the International Organization for Standardization and provides a guide for organizations in applying the principles of social and environmental responsibility. The standard comprehensively defines social responsibility by pointing to its key areas:
- governance
- human rights
- labor practices
- environment
- fair operating practices
- consumer issues
- social engagement and community development
