Eight new friendly Erasmus students came to our university from a few countries - Romania, Slovakia, France, Turkey, Cyprus, Italy and Ukraine. They will study at the Faculty of Physical Education and Physiotherapy. They joined 10 students who stayed for the whole academic year.
Orientation days for new Erasmus students took place on 13, 14 and 15 February. After arriving at the student dormitory, Spartakus, a map of the AWF campus, orientation days plan and a welcome letter waited for each of them. The main goal of the orientation days is to provide, in an accessible way, knowledge about the new university and the place where the participants of the Erasmus program will function during the upcoming months.
On Wednesday, February 13, students met their first challenge - they had to find the Erasmus Office and register there. They all managed it, though some of them with the help of our very friendly Celine, who came to us from Paris for the whole year. In the Office new students could get answers to any questions about staying at the University of Physical Education and studying here, they were also shown the buildings on ul. Witelona 25 and 25a, where some classes take place.
On Thursday, February 14, the newly arrived students met with the Erasmus coordinator Justyna Cieplik at the Erasmus Meeting Point in the library - they got acquainted with the curriculum, the rules of studying at the Univeristy School of Physical Education and other organizational matters. Then they visited the AWF campus - they got to know the buildings P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5, saw the training and lecture halls, the Multifunctional Hall and the Indoor Swimming Pool, as well as the Cardamom canteen. Then they had a short training in traveling by public transport - they went to Tramwajowa street and went to "Zameczek", where they also have classes. Being so thoroughly informed, they were ready for integration during the third orientation day.
Friday 15 February brought a great integration event for "new" and "old" Erasmus students. The event began at 10:00 am and finished after 3:00 pm, and in an unusual style, because it included a session in the cryochamber! The motto of the integration event was "Erasmus in good condition". In addition to the integration of the group, the event was also aimed at presenting Wrocław, its history and interesting places, outdoor recreation, cooperation and competition in sporting style. Visiting the most famous places in Wroclaw was a good way to familiarize students with the city. Especially for the participants, the organizers have prepared a guide "Wroclaw Erasmus Bucket List Challenge" containing a list of 101 tasks and challenges, practical information, useful phone applications and places worth visiting in Lower Silesia. During the event, each student had to visit Galeria Neony and take first commemorative photographs from Wrocław, play flanks on Wyspa Słodowa, see Wrocław from "Witches’ Bridge", and try traditional Polish pierogi. Finally, the emotions were heated up by the visit in the cryochamber, which brought the tired students back to life and put everyone in a cheerful mood thanks to the activated endorphins at -120 ° C!
